Ireland and Europe in Conversation
Four Irish counties. Four European countries. Eight writers. A series of conversations about literature, culture, history and the ties that connect Ireland with the rest of Europe.
Organised by Ring of Culture with support from the Communicating Europe Initiative,
County Pairings brings Irish and European authors together for public discussions in Wicklow, Dublin, Offaly and Louth between October and December 2026.
Free to attend, open to questions and disagreements, and designed to keep the conversation going beyond the events themselves.

Book ring of culture
Ring of Culture brings writers, readers, travellers and curious minds together for conversations that don't always follow the script.
From literary festivals and writing workshops to public debates, travel talks and cultural encounters, we believe the best discussions are those where people can question, disagree, laugh and occasionally change their minds.
Led by writer and publisher Vítor Vicente, Ring of Culture draws on literature, history, travel and first-hand experience to explore the world beyond the usual talking points.
We take our subjects seriously, but not necessarily ourselves.
