Jewish Square is a Ring of Culture initiative dedicated to Jewish history, culture, memory, and lived experience, explored through carefully curated walks, talks, and cultural encounters in cities shaped by Jewish presence.
Each Jewish Square experience is led by local specialists — historians, artists, musicians, writers, and licensed guides — and designed for travellers, readers, students, and culturally curious audiences seeking depth over spectacle.
This is not mass tourism...This is meaningful travel.

Inspired by the novels of Jewish author Richard Zimler, this walking tour brings Lisbon’s Jewish history to life through storytelling, place and memory.
Using The Last Kabbalist of Lisbon as a guide, Andreia Salvado leads visitors through the streets and locations connected to Portugal’s Jewish past — a history shaped by resilience, persecution and enduring cultural traditions.
Reading the book beforehand is not necessary, but many participants enjoy discovering it afterwards, seeing the story in a new light.
Tours available in English, Portuguese and French.

Luciano Waldman, born in Brazil and raised in Israel, is the founder of the Jewish Cultural Center on Lisbon’s Rua da Judiaria. His work is dedicated to safeguarding and sharing Portuguese and Sephardic Jewish heritage through memory, research, and cultural life.
Luciano is uniquely placed to guide visitors through Jewish history and sites not only in Lisbon, but across Portugal, combining local knowledge with a deep personal and cultural connection.
He guides in English, Portuguese, Hebrew, and Spanish.
